The Cat & Tonic Inne

This event, held in conjunction with the “Coill Tuar Against the Known World” event, was on 19-21 May 1989 at the Holiday Hills in eastern Dutchess County. The shire had to provide several work weekends in order to secure the sie. The event had a “Club Med-ieval” theme, where lodging (cabins) and a food plan were provided for an entire weekend. While very expensive and not heavily attended, the weather was beautiful and a good time was had by all.

This event featured the local archery marshal (Dof Morrisson) debuting a new period-inspired archery shoot in the East Kingdom: the Popinjay Shoot. Stuffed popinjays were suspended from the top of a tall pole for archers to shoot at. The shoot was so successful that the popinjays and pole were taken to Pennsic XVIII later that season and used for novelty shoots there.
